4. To close the Administrator: Command prompt window, type Exit, and then press Enter.
5. Run Windows Update again.

1. Open the command prompt as previously mentioned
2. Input the following command pressing Enter after every line net stop wuauserv net stop cryptSvc net stop bits net stop msiserver rename c:windowsSoftwareDistribution softwaredistribution.old net start wuauserv net start cryptSvc net start bits net start msiserver exit
3. Restart the PC and run the updater if it works again.

1. Press the Windows logo key and R together to open Run -> Input services.msc -> and press Enter
2. Search for the Windows Update service -> Check its status
3. If it is not indicated, right-click on the service and select Start to force start your Windows Update

So if your computer is turned on, it won’t apply the update during the active hours you’ve specified. In addition, the active hours change for many users and they are not that strict. For instance, if you set the active hours between 10 am to 5 pm, Windows Update won’t be forcing you to restart your computer to install the updates at those times. If you have set a static IP address manually in your Windows 10 computer and you encounter an error saying, “This operation failed as no adapter is in the state permissible for this operation”, then you won’t be able to connect to any network. Many users have reported that they were unable to connect to any network after they set their IP addresses manually and all they see is a red cross symbol on the network icon located at the left-hand side of the taskbar. And upon trying to release the IP configuration and renew the address using Command Prompt or Windows PowerShell, they are getting the error instead. Option 1 – Try to run the Internet Connections troubleshooter
